Ken’s Farm
Ken's farm is a No-Till farm that is currently in the process of pursuing Regenerative Organic Certification. We are currently not Cetified Orgainic. We never spray pesticides or herbicides of any kind, ever. We use many OMRI products or other products approved for Organic Certification and Organic Certified seeds when those varieities are avaible as Certified Organic. We grow outdoors in open fields and hoop houses in the spring, summer, and fall and grow indoors using lights on shelving in the winter, with overlap occurring in the spring and fall. We use mulch, drip irrigation, cover cropping, and many conservation practices in our production process.
Ken has been farming for 15 years with most experience being on the island of Kauai. He has owned and/or operated Theobroma Farm, Ono Organics, Kauai Island Organics, and Ken's Farm while on Kauai. He also taught and helped develop the Sustainable Farming and Gardening Training Program at Kauai Community College. His farm was a WWOOF host which hosted and taught hundreds of volunteers from all over the world. Ken's Farm is not the name of the farm due to lack of creativity. Kauai is a small place and no matter what the farm was really called everyone just called it "Ken's Farm" so I decided to go with it. The focus of Ken's Farm is increasing produce sales, producing seed from open pollinated varieities, and advancing regenerative farming and indoor vertical farming techniques. Our goal is to grow and use as much of our own seed as possible, grow and store as many crop varieties as possible, and to train and educate others how to do the same.
